Why I Carry the Tulster ARC Holster for Everyday Carry
Finding the right everyday carry holster is harder than most people admit.
I’ve gone through the cycle that many concealed carriers know well—buying holsters that looked great online but became uncomfortable after a few hours, printed too much, or simply didn’t work well in real daily life. As a bigger guy, that problem becomes even more frustrating because many AIWB (Appendix Inner Waistband) holsters seem designed around ideal body types instead of actual people. Now, I know what you’re thinking— “get in the gym and solve the problem, big boy”…and YOU’RE NOT WRONG! But while I sort myself out, let me tell you about an option that stands out to me.
Enter the Tulster ARC Holster. The ARC is one of the few inside-the-waistband holsters I’ve carried that genuinely works for everyday life while still offering the concealment, comfort, and consistency I expect from a modern EDC setup.
FULL DISCLOSURE: I have been an affiliate of Tulster Holsters for going on 3 years, however, my partnership with this company is a by-product of the trust I developed in them as a consumer. I was a huge supporter of this business because LONG BEFORE our partnership, I was testing, reviewing, and using Tulster holsters on a practically daily basis and recommending it to other concealed carriers.
The Biggest Problem With Most IWB Holsters
A lot of concealed carry holsters are technically functional—but they aren’t realistic for all-day wear for all shooters. For bigger guys, especially, common issues include:
● Excessive pressure points
● Digging into the stomach while sitting
● Poor concealment due to grip printing
● Hot spots during long wear
● Uncomfortable ride height
Many appendix holsters feel good when standing still for five minutes, but real life involves driving, bending, sitting, and moving constantly throughout the day. That’s where most setups fall apart. The ARC holster feels like it was designed by people who actually carry daily, not just by testing gear in perfect conditions.
Why the Tulster ARC Works So Well for Bigger Guys
The biggest surprise for me with the ARC was comfort. The holster does a great job of distributing pressure well and avoids the sharp, awkward feeling that many rigid Kydex holsters create. Instead of constantly fighting the holster throughout the day, I found myself forgetting it was there—which is exactly what a good EDC holster should do. For bigger body types, that matters tremendously. Couple this with the fact that the ARC design helps reduce printing, improves concealment under normal clothing, minimizes discomfort while seated, and maintains a consistent draw position and you have something truly special.
That last point is critical. Comfort means nothing if the draw becomes inconsistent. The ARC balances both extremely well.
Built for Modern Everyday Carry
Modern concealed carry setups are evolving fast. Today’s EDC often includes red dots, weapon lights, extended controls, and even compensators for you Gucci-boys and girls (kidding…I have several) and older holster designs sometimes struggle to adapt to those setups cleanly. The Tulster ARC holster feels purpose-built for modern carry configurations instead of outdated minimalist standards. Don’t get me wrong, if you’re still deadly with Papa’s old Springfield out of a leather DeSantis, carry on with your bad self. For most of us in 2026, the adaptability to modern carry trends makes a major difference in daily use.
The Tulsa ARC holster supports a more capable carry setup without becoming bulky or impractical.
Concealment Without Sacrificing Accessibility
One thing I immediately noticed with the ARC is how well it balances concealment with accessibility. Some holsters conceal well, but make obtaining a proper firing grip difficult. Others prioritize speed but print heavily under clothing. The ARC manages both.
The wing/claw system helps rotate the grip inward, which dramatically reduces printing—especially important for larger individuals carrying compact or full-size pistols. At the same time, the draw remains natural and repeatable. That combination builds confidence because you know your weapon will stay CONCEALED, ACCESSIBLE, and STABLE through movement. Those details matter more than flashy marketing features.
Consistency Is What Matters Most
A carry setup only works if you actually wear it consistently. THAT’S THE REAL TEST, and don’t ever let anyone tell you different. A lot of holsters feel acceptable for an hour or two. Very few remain comfortable during through your long workday, much less while driving around running errands or spending the day out with those you love. The ARC is one of the few IWB holsters that genuinely supports all-day carry for me without becoming something I constantly want to adjust or remove.
I recently posted a photo of myself on my social media Christmas shopping with my wife. 8 hours of multiple stores, sitting and having lunch, picking up and putting down different merchandise and getting in and out of my vehicle. To tell you I didn’t make one single adjustment in that entire day would be a lie, but the very few adjustments made were a lightyears improvement on other appendix-carry holsters I’ve tried out in my life.
That consistency matters because the best carry setup is the one you actually keep on your body.
Quality and Retention
Retention on the ARC feels secure without being excessive. The draw is smooth, predictable, and clean. There’s enough retention to feel confident during movement while still allowing a fast presentation when needed. The build quality also stands out immediately:
● Durable Kydex construction
● Clean edges
● Solid hardware
● Adjustable fitment
Nothing feels cheap or rushed. That’s important because a holster is not just an accessory—it’s life support equipment.
Why Comfort Changes Everything
One thing many people underestimate is how much comfort affects carry habits. If a holster constantly annoys you, you subconsciously start making excuses not to carry— “I’m just running to the store” or “I’ll leave it in the truck” very quickly become “I don’t want to deal with it today.”
That’s where good equipment matters. The ARC reduces friction in the daily carry process. It makes carrying easier, more comfortable, and more sustainable long-term. Especially for bigger guys, that can completely change the concealed carry experience.
Final Thoughts on the Tulster ARC Holster
The Tulster ARC Holster has become one of my favorite everyday carry holsters because it solves problems that many IWB setups ignore:
● Excellent concealment
● Strong retention
● Real all-day comfort
● Modern EDC compatibility
● Better usability for larger body types
Most importantly, it supports consistency—and consistency is what matters most in concealed carry. A holster can have all the features in the world, but if it’s uncomfortable, you eventually stop carrying. The Tulster ARC is one of the few holsters I’ve used that genuinely makes everyday carry easier instead of harder.
